What Actually Happens When We Build Your Website

A lot of small business owners put off getting a website built because they don’t know what to expect. Will it take months? Will they have to write everything themselves? Will they be stuck in meetings explaining things they don’t know how to explain?
Here’s exactly how it works when you work with us, from the first conversation to launch day.
Step 1: We have a chat (free, no obligation)
Before anything else, we talk. We want to understand your business, who your customers are, what you want your website to do, and whether we’re the right fit for each other.
This is also when we do a free audit of your current online presence, your existing website if you have one, your Google Business Profile, how you’re showing up in local searches. We’ll tell you honestly what’s working, what isn’t, and what we’d recommend. No pitch, just a straight assessment.
If you decide to go ahead, great. If not, you’ve still got useful information about your website situation at no cost.
Step 2: You send us what you’ve got
Once you’re on board, we ask you to send over a few things: your logo, any photos of your business or work, and any content you already have (old website, brochures, that kind of thing).
You don’t need to write anything. We’ll interview you about your business, your services, your customers, what makes you different, and we write the copy ourselves. Most clients find this is the part they were most worried about and it turns out to be the easiest.
Step 3: We build it while you run your business
This is where we do the work. You’re not sitting in meetings or waiting on us to send you things to approve every five minutes.
The build typically takes two to three weeks. You’ll hear from us at the midpoint with a progress update so you know what’s happening, but you don’t need to be involved in the day-to-day.
Step 4: You review it and we refine it
When the site is ready, we show it to you. You tell us what you want changed. You get two rounds of revisions included, so if something isn’t quite right, we fix it.
Most clients need minor tweaks at this stage. By the time we show you the site, we’ve already had a detailed conversation about your business and what you need, so there are rarely major surprises.
Step 5: We launch it
Once you’re happy, we handle the technical side of going live, domain setup, hosting, making sure everything works properly across devices. Then we walk you through how to make basic updates yourself so you’re not dependent on us for every small change.
You also get 30 days of included post-launch support, so if something comes up or you think of something you want adjusted, we’re still around.
After launch
Some clients grab a monthly care plan so we handle ongoing updates, security, and maintenance in the background. Others prefer to manage things themselves and get in touch when they need something. Both work fine, there’s no lock-in.
If you’re curious what this would look like for your business, start with a free chat. We’ll tell you exactly what’s involved and give you a clear quote upfront.
